  • Auburn police are investigating after student Christian Smaw died on June 26 when his car hit a train at the Gay Street crossing—his roommate Jeffrey James said Smaw was a joyful person and noted that a fundraiser in his memory has now raised over $30,000.  Opelika-Auburn News

  • Korea Fuel Tech America is investing $4 million to expand its facility at Auburn Technology Park South and will hire 17 workers to produce eco-friendly fuel parts that help reduce air emissions—these parts power vehicles from major automakers. City leaders say the expansion strengthens Auburn’s manufacturing base.  WAKA

  • At Tuesday’s City Council meeting, Chief Cedric Anderson answered residents’ questions about the federal, state and local task force raids that occurred last Tuesday at area restaurants—such as at El Jefe Mexican Cuisine where police blocked entrances on Opelika Road.  The Auburn Villager
