- ➤ Auburn City Council will vote in coming weeks on a proposal to raise council pay from $7,200 to $15,000 and the mayor pro tem’s salary to $18,000, with any changes taking effect after new councilors are seated following the November 2026 elections—some members oppose the raise to keep service values intact. - ➤ Auburn city officials updated Toomer’s Corner so pedestrians can cross diagonally + drivers must now wait for a green light before turning right. City staff are stationed at each corner to help people adjust and ease traffic during football season. The Observer
