- ➤ Whataburger will close its downtown Auburn restaurant — part of a business review that also led to closing one Tuscaloosa location at 1130 University Blvd. Employees at both sites will be offered transfers to nearby stores including Opelika. AL.com
CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ The Studio Theatre and Ham Amphitheatre at the Gogue Center (a $15 million project) are almost ready for debut as production teams finish final lighting and audio work. The new venues feature a 3,500 sqft indoor space and 65,000 sqft outdoor seating that will host performances next spring. The Auburn Plainsman

- ➤ The Auburn City Council approved a $4M land purchase last Tuesday along East University Drive to expand Duck Samford Park. The move will enable new baseball fields and amenities — boosting local youth sports. The Auburn Villager

- ➤ Nationwide, cases of winter vomiting disease caused by norovirus have surged since mid-October; local residents in Auburn are advised to practice good hygiene and disinfect surfaces (as the virus can lead to dehydration among vulnerable groups). AL.com
SPORTS NEWS
- ➤ The SEC has released the 2026 football schedule that includes Auburn’s games, starting with a contest against Baylor in Atlanta on Sept. 5 and ending with a match-up at Alabama on Nov. 28 as teams will now play nine conference games — an update that expands traditional rivalries. WAKA
