Good morning, Auburn. Here's your local news at a glance for Wednesday, the 26th of November.

COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Action 8’s Magical Christmas Toy Drive has been held for 12 years to help the Salvation Army and is collecting new, unwrapped toys until December 10. Donations will be accepted at the Toy Vault at the Shoppes at EastChase — left of Books-a-Million — as Servpro’s Isaac Murray said the drive will support local families.  WAKA

BUSINESS NEWS

  • A nonprofit said Alabama Power’s plan to keep electric rates unchanged until the end of 2027 is a political move to defer rate hikes rather than immediately lower costs — a strategy that may allow the company to earn interest on deferred balances ahead of the election season. John Dodd, policy director for Energy Alabama, warned that the move delays any real benefit for customers.  AL.com

SPORTS NEWS

  • The Florida Gators have pulled out of their pursuit of Lane Kiffin, a move that may delay Auburn's search for its next head football coach. Auburn officials plan to make a hiring decision 24-48 hours after Saturday’s Iron Bowl—while several schools join the chase.  AL.com
  • Alabama remains No. 10 in the College Football Playoff rankings and is set to face Auburn in the Iron Bowl at Jordan-Hare Stadium on Saturday night; a win will boost the Crimson Tide to the SEC Championship game while a loss (dropping them to 9-3) could nearly end their playoff hopes.  WAKA
