EDUCATION NEWS

  • Auburn University’s Student Government Association held its annual Hey Day event (Oct. 16th) that invited students, faculty, and the Auburn Family to wear name tags and greet each other; the event featured a live band, pep rally, appearances by WEGL 91.1 FM, and free merchandise (reflecting a longstanding tradition since World War II).  Eagle Eye TV

SPORTS NEWS

  • Auburn University’s Alumni Association posted an article stating that Coach Shug Jordan first wore a houndstooth hat before Coach Bear Bryant made it famous—Kathy Moates, a 1973 alum who kept the hat after the 1969 Iron Bowl, recalled the detail—and the claim adds a new twist to a long-held sports tradition.  AL.com
  • After a 20-10 loss to Georgia, Auburn football is in trouble as coach Hugh Freeze blasted a missed call—one that cost the team a chance to lead—and running back Damari Alston has left the team; they will play Missouri tonight at Jordan-Hare Stadium while questions about Freeze’s future linger.
