- ➤ The planned Auburn-Baylor home game in 2026 will be canceled — local businesses in the Auburn Opelika area may lose millions in economic impact as a result. Opelika-Auburn News
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ On Oct. 7, the SGA held a budget meeting at Melton Student Center and finalized major cuts to student groups—such as removing BSU’s planned Black History Month Concert. The SGA Senate will vote soon on these changes to balance funds for the fall academic year. The Auburn Plainsman
HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ On Oct. 7, Auburn University Dream Makers hosted Child Health Day on Campus Green to raise money for East Alabama Health—serving food from Foosackly’s and Small Sliders, holding a pie fight, and featuring Aubie the Tiger. The student-led group raised awareness for child health and will hold Color Wars on Oct. 15 and a Main Event in spring to support local pediatric care. The Auburn Plainsman

- ➤ Auburn High lost 36-0 to Central High at Duck Samford Stadium, and the Red Devils held the Tigers to 173 total yards while quarterback Bobby Coleman threw three touchdowns. The defeat comes as Auburn High prepares to face Smiths Station tomorrow & the strong offensive plays from Central, especially by wide receiver Braylen Averett, boosted CHS's region contender status. - ➤ The Smiths Station Panthers won their homecoming game over the JAG Jaguars 42 to 32 at Panther Stadium on a cool October Friday night. Junior Luke Sexton rushed for 265 yards and scored four touchdowns—marking the first multi-win season for the team since 2021 and boosting the home crowd's spirit. The Observer
- ➤ Senior receiver Aundray Vann was named O-A News Player of the Week after logging four receptions for 125 yards and one touchdown in Opelika’s 21-14 win over Dothan Friday night—his touchdown catch went for 93 yards. Opelika-Auburn News
- ➤ LSA Warriors defeated Dadeville Tigers by a score of 26 to 19 in an overtime contest on Friday night in Dadeville. - ➤ Auburn City Council approved two contracts with Headley Construction Corporation to resurface 16 hydro-clay and 12 hard courts at the 18-year-old Yarbrough Tennis Center to repair damage from wear and weather—no timeline for completion was given. The Observer
- ➤ The Macon-East Academy Knights defeated Trinity Christian 58—20 on Friday night at Moore Stadium in Opelika, keeping their record unbeaten at 6—0 as they prepare to face Springwood. Coach Glynn Lott said the team used an explosive offense and a strong run attack to secure the win. The Observer
