COMMUNITY NEWS

  • The Alabama National Fair runs today through October 13 at Garrett Coliseum—other River Region events include the HBCU Classic Weekend with Morehouse-Tuskegee Classic and homecoming at Alabama State, a Biergarten in Montgomery, Oktoberfest, Artoberfest at 17 Springs, Froggy Fall Festival in Pike Road and a wine trail in Opelika.  WAKA
  • The City of Auburn invites children ages 0-12 to submit colored designs for Downtown Trick or Treat paper bags — winning designs will be featured on the official event flyers and distributed bags. Entrants can bring creativity to a festive community celebration aimed at enhancing this year’s event.  The Auburn Villager

BUSINESS NEWS

  • The Lowder Center at Harbert College of Business offers four entrepreneurship programs that help Alabama residents start and grow businesses using free digital tools, workshops and competitions. The center connects local students and entrepreneurs to work opportunities and coaching—Lowder.  The Auburn Plainsman

CULTURE NEWS

  • The Pine Hill Cemetery Lantern Tour will return Oct. 23-24 as the Auburn Heritage Association sets up a guided walk at Pine Hill Cemetery—featuring residents who portray historical characters. The event will let locals learn about Auburn’s past through stories from these characters—bringing history to life.  The Auburn Villager
  • The Auburn Community Orchestra will perform its Fall Masterworks concert on October 14 at the Woltosz Theatre — located in the Jay and Susie Gogue Performing Arts Center. This marks the first presentation by the orchestra this month and gives locals a new live music experience.  The Auburn Villager
  • A study by the Pew Research Center shows 89 percent of adults in Alabama identify as Christians, making the state the leader among all 50 states—this Religious Landscape Study highlights Alabama’s strong religious identity compared to others. The survey’s findings mark a key point in understanding the role of faith in the state.  AL.com

  • Auburn University's pre-law program held a session on Sept. 30 with Yale Law School admissions to explain the school's admissions process—students learned about GPA ranges, LSAT scores, and application requirements.  The Auburn Plainsman

  • Pike Road football won easily by a 54–7 score over the Park Crossing Thunderbirds at Cramton Bowl on Oct 2 – quarterback Gunner Gibbs led the team with a deep pass that helped them build an early lead.  WAKA
