  • Cortaveus Eiland, a 23-year-old man from Opelika, was charged with first-degree robbery for armed robberies at a grocery store on September 5 and at Dollar General in Beauregard, with deputies saying he used a handgun and left in a gray SUV—he is now held without bail.  WAKA
  • An Opelika man was charged with murder after his 69-year-old stepfather, James Barnett, was shot in the head at his home on Lee County Road 126 in the Salem community last night—Deputies arrested 51-year-old Richard Lee Huguley and he is held without bail pending a hearing.  WAKA
