CRIME NEWS

  • ➤ Auburn Police arrested 25-year-old Ashley Susan Graham on a felony warrant for aggravated cruelty to animals after officers responded Monday to a complaint about deceased household animals near the 400 block of North Dean Road—she is now in custody at Lee County Jail on a $5,000 bond.  WAKA

HEALTH NEWS

  • ➤ State health officials confirmed Alabama’s first measles case since 2002 in a child under five from North Alabama— the unvaccinated child contracted the virus while traveling abroad and did not attend daycare or school. Siblings who were vaccinated remain healthy and officials urge parents to keep up to date on measles shots for all children.  WAKA

  • ➤ Auburn High Tigers won their first game of the season with a 24—6 victory over Booker High School on August 22 as the team overcame penalties and forced turnovers with key plays from Cason Meyers and Joshua Askew. They will travel to face Vestavia Hills High School tomorrow.  The Observer
  • ➤ The Auburn men's basketball team – returning to a cherished tradition – will face Chattanooga in the Holiday Hoopsgiving tournament at State Farm Arena in Atlanta on December 13 while start time and TV details are pending. It will mark their sixth appearance in the event with strong past performances.  WAKA
  • ➤ Alabama and West Virginia canceled their home-and-home football series scheduled for 2026 and 2027 — Alabama will now play East Carolina on Sept. 5, South Florida on Sept. 12, and Florida State on Sept. 19 while West Virginia faces Coastal Carolina on Sept. 5, UT-Martin on Sept. 12, and Virginia on Sept. 19.  WAKA
