COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Community members can join free rain barrel workshops on Sept. 13 and Sept. 20 at the Nunn-Winston House at Kiesel Park from 8:45 to 10 a.m. A third August workshop is already full.  The Auburn Villager

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The City Council approved an agreement Tuesday to extend school resource officer services for Auburn City Schools for three years — the ACS Board of Education had already approved the deal last week.  The Auburn Villager
  • State Rep. Rhett Marques announced he is running for the U.S. House District 1 seat because Congressman Barry Moore is running for Senate and Tommy Tuberville is leaving his seat to run for governor — leaving the seat open for a new representative. Marques, in his second term, said he will work to lower taxes and will face former Rep. Jerry Carl in the GOP primary on May 19th, 2026.  WAKA
  • Tuesday night, the Auburn City Council approved an infrastructure development agreement with Landmark Properties for The Mark at Auburn—a planned mixed-use student housing project on Wright Street and Toomer Street. The project will offer new housing options for students and is set to begin development soon.  The Auburn Villager
