- ➤ Jonna Threadgill — owner of Woof Ave. animal rescue — said the rescue was forced to vacate its Opelika Road home of 10 years on Tuesday, Aug. 12; it must relocate by the end of September. The move will affect long-time supporters and the local community. Opelika-Auburn News

- ➤ The city & county will construct a new roundabout at the Moores Mill & Society Hill intersection later this year to manage heavy traffic from Auburn. The two governments are sharing the cost to improve road safety and traffic flow. Opelika-Auburn News
- ➤ Governor Kay Ivey set the special election dates for House District 38 after Rep. Debbie Wood resigned when her husband got a new job in Pensacola. The primary will be held on Tuesday, October 21 — a runoff if needed will be on Tuesday, November 18 — and the general election is set for Tuesday, February 3 with major party filings due by Wednesday, August 20 at 5:00 p.m. and independent filings by Tuesday, October 21 at 5:00 p.m. WAKA
