  • Auburn Public Safety held its 42nd annual National Night Out on Tuesday, Aug. 5th at Duck Samford Stadium—community members gathered to show support for local safety efforts.  Opelika-Auburn News
  • Volunteers gathered at the Food Bank of East Alabama to package meals for the United Way of Lee County's annual Campaign Kickoff event — providing essential support for local families.  The Auburn Villager
  • Auburn basketball legend Walker Kessler returned on Monday to donate backpacks and school supplies to local youth with the Boys & Girls Clubs of East Alabama.  The Auburn Villager
  • After learning on July 30 that its lease for 1027 Opelika Road will end on Sept. 30, local nonprofit Woof Ave. must find a new home for its dogs and cats within less than 60 days. Some pets can be easily adopted at reduced fees — dogs at $75 and cats at $25 — while others with special needs may need temporary care, so the shelter asks the community for help through adoptions or donations.  The Observer

CRIME NEWS

  • Opelika Police Department reported on August 6 that 25-year-old Christian Lee Ransom is missing after he was last seen walking along 6th Street past KFC on July 28—he is a white male around 5-foot-10 with very short hair and without his medicine, which may affect his safety.  The Observer

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • At Tuesday’s meeting, Auburn City Council approved a development agreement for The Everly— a large private dormitory project planned for West Glenn Avenue. The project is expected to add new housing for students in Auburn.  The Auburn Villager
