GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The Alabama Alcoholic Beverage Control Board will host bourbon sweepstakes events every Saturday in September with different brands—Heaven Hill on Sept. 6, Brown Forman on Sept. 13, Jim Beam on Sept. 20, and Sazerac on Sept. 27. Registration opens Aug. 4 at 8:00 a.m. and ends Aug. 24 at 11:59 p.m. CST, and eligible Alabama residents 21 and older may win a spot in line at select ABC stores.  AL.com
  • On July 29, Auburn police and their partners held an active shooter drill at Neville Arena to test emergency tactics for large events like basketball games. The simulation—featuring actors as victims and a shooter using blanks—helped officials refine their response for future crises.  Opelika-Auburn News
