Good morning, Auburn.

SEC coaches voiced concern over the new nine-game conference schedule at SEC Media Days, with Drinkwitz and Kiffin warning that the tougher lineup may challenge teams while keeping traditional rivalries like Auburn+Georgia intact.

Auburn signed edge rusher Nate Johnson, who transferred from Missouri after the 2025 season (praised for his high work ethic), and he now competes with teammates Da’Shawn Womack and Jared Smith at the Woltosz Football Performance Center.

SEC commissioner Greg Sankey defended the league's transparency process during Media Days on Monday morning, noting that officials are evaluated privately while innovations like the ABS method boost accountability in football and baseball.

Coach Drinkwitz praised Missouri's new offensive coordinator Chip Lindsey (who coached at Auburn in 2017-2018) at SEC Media Days.

The experienced coach, hired this offseason, is set to lead Missouri when they open on Sept. 3 against Arkansas Pine Bluff.

Mizzou head coach Eli Drinkwitz said that Gus Malzahn’s role on the College Football Playoff committee might encourage the retired coach to return to coaching.

Drinkwitz launched his informal campaign to support a next-year hiring because he believes the review of teams could spark a fresh chance.

Auburn’s new coach Alex Golesh and former Tennessee assistants Tim Banks and Kodi Burns will reunite with coach Josh Heupel at Neyland Stadium on Oct.

3, setting up a unique matchup. The reunion reflects deep SEC ties ahead of the upcoming season.

SEC Commissioner Greg Sankey said at media days in Tampa on Monday that the conference was angry with the College Football Playoff’s new schedule-strength metric because it did not fairly rate SEC teams compared to rivals with easier non–conference schedules.

He pointed to a May meeting in Destin that raised these concerns.
