- ➤ A person was shot at Grub Mart on Columbus Parkway in Opelika on July 20th, and police are investigating the incident as the injured victim was taken by ambulance to Piedmont Columbus Regional Hospital in Columbus, Georgia. WAKA

- ➤ Baltimore Ravens running back Derrick Henry from Alabama now leads players with state roots in NFL touches after reaching 2,529 touches with 325 rushing attempts and 19 receptions in 2024—he passed Shaun Alexander’s record. His 344 touches last season ranked fourth in the NFL—seven more than former Alabama running back Josh Jacobs. AL.com
- ➤ After SEC Media Days, Auburn football is preparing for fall camp, which starts one month before the season opener at Baylor on Aug. 29. Coach Freeze said the team will compete for key positions at running back, safety, and wide receiver and he expects breakout performances from players like Keyron Crawford (a promising addition) this season. - ➤ Tashawn Manning, a former Auburn offensive lineman, was waived Sunday by the Cincinnati Bengals — he was set to join training camp Tuesday after spending last season on the practice squad without appearing in a regular-season game. AL.com
- ➤ Former Alabama cornerback Trey Amos signed his rookie contract with the Washington Commanders when he reported for training camp on Friday in Ashburn, Va.—His signing left only one of the 21 2025 draft picks from Alabama schools unsigned. AL.com
