  • Last Saturday’s parade rolled down Boykin Street—Juneteenth celebrations continued on Sunday at Kiesel Park with a free community event that Auburn residents attended.  The Auburn Villager

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • During Tuesday’s meeting, Auburn City Council denied conditional-use approval for a United Rentals equipment storage facility near exit 51 at 2490 S. College St.  The Auburn Villager

SPORTS NEWS

  • At the Opelika Sportsplex, 270 seniors began the largest ever members-only U.S. Senior Pickleball South Zone Championship on June 19 — a four-day event featuring doubles, singles and mixed contests. The tournament boosted the local economy by $1.3 million this year and drew visitors from across the country — including one from Iowa.  WAKA
  • Birmingham is competing against three other cities to host the U.S. Olympic gymnastics trials that will take place over several days in June 2028 ahead of the Los Angeles Games — Gene Hallman of Eventive Sports said he expects a decision this summer and noted support from local and state leaders that may bring Auburn’s own Suni Lee to the event.  AL.com
