  • A 61-year-old man from Smiths Station was arrested on May 30 on charges of first-degree rape, sodomy, & sexual abuse of a child under age 12 after investigators reported the alleged abuse began in 1994 and the victim delayed prosecution.  AL.com

  • Jimmy Sanford, an Auburn graduate who has served on the board since 2012, was elected unanimously as the new president pro tempore at the board meeting last Friday. He will lead the board for the next year replacing Quentin Riggins after his two-year tenure—marking a new chapter in board leadership.  Opelika-Auburn News
