ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Anglers can fish without a license in most of Alabama's fresh and salt waters on June 7 during Free Fishing Day, part of National Fishing and Boating Week. Public fishing lakes require permits and private ponds need owner permission (some piers may charge fees), and recent boating access projects are set to boost outdoor fun.  AL.com

SPORTS NEWS

  • Auburn baseball beat Stetson 8-5 at Plainsman Park with Ike Irish's ninth inning home run marking the Tigers' first win over the team and their pitcher striking out five while the offense added eight doubles. They will face the winner of the Stetson–NC State game today at 6 p.m.  AL.com
  • Former Auburn running back Jarquez Hunter signed his first NFL contract with the Los Angeles Rams on Friday. The fourth-round draft pick—who ran for 3,371 yards at Auburn—received a four-year, $5.197 million deal and will prepare for his rookie season.  AL.com
  • Auburn's Tigers beat Central Connecticut State 9 to 5 in their regional opener on Friday and scored eight runs in the first three innings—helping overcome early pitching issues—and Carson Myers pitched six scoreless innings while striking out nine. The team now prepares to face Stetson for a regional title game set for 8 p.m. Saturday night.  AL.com
