CRIME NEWS

  • Auburn police arrested five Montgomery teens after a high-speed chase Wednesday night that started when officers responded to CVS theft reports from the 700 block of East Glenn and the 200 block of South College, with the suspect vehicle causing multiple collisions on I-85—resulting in charges of first-degree theft and obstruction of justice for some of the teens.  AL.com

HEALTH NEWS

  • Some state legislatures and local water systems are planning to stop adding fluoride—hydrofluorosilicic acid—to public drinking water as debates over its benefits continue. A 2024 report by Alabama Public Health and the Oral Health Office highlights urgent oral health concerns, while the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention called fluoridation one of the century’s great public health achievements.  The Auburn Villager

SPORTS NEWS

  • The SEC announced game kickoff times and TV assignments for the first three weeks of the 2025 football season, including Auburn at Baylor on Friday, Aug. 29 at 7 p.m. on Fox — additional schedules will be released on a week-to-week basis once the season begins.  AL.com
  • Auburn will host an NCAA Baseball Regional today at Plainsman Park where the Tigers will face NC State, Stetson and Central Connecticut State University.   • Today Auburn coach Butch Thompson named sophomore Cam Tilly as the starting pitcher for the NCAA regional game versus Central Connecticut State. Tilly—who recorded six strikeouts in the SEC tournament game against Texas A&M—will have a chance to help the Tigers begin the road to Omaha.  AL.com
