- ➤ On Saturday, May 16, the Watoola Methodist Church in Opelika will host its 50th annual barbecue from 10:30 a.m. until 2 p.m., featuring slow-cooked pit barbecue, Brunswick stew, and live rock and gospel music by the Cooper Creek Band (playing from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.). The Observer
- ➤ On May 7, the Boys & Girls Clubs of East Alabama held their seventh Great Futures Gala at the Gogue Performing Arts Center in Auburn, honoring youth achievements and community impact. Auburn Mayor Ron Anders and Opelika Mayor Eddie Smith hosted the fundraiser that showcased programs serving 700 local children. The Observer

- ➤ Auburn basketball will play the Wisconsin Badgers in a neutral-site game in Nashville on Dec. 19 while tickets go on sale this Thursday at 9 a.m. CT + the matchup revives a rivalry last seen in the 2006-07 season. AL.com
