- ➤ Alabama lawmakers voted Tuesday to cut the food sales tax from 3% to 2%—a change set to begin on Sept. 1 if signed by Gov. Kay Ivey—while also exempting diapers, baby formula and menstrual hygiene products from the 4% sales tax. WAKA
- ➤ The House passed a bill that will change how the Alabama Department of Archives and History is run (vote 74-29) by giving the governor the power to appoint most board members. The bill now goes to the Senate for concurrence as the legislative session ends in two days. AL.com
