  • Several Auburn fraternities hosted the inaugural Romo Cup wiffle baseball game Saturday, April 25 (11 a.m. to 7 p.m.) at Auburn to honor late Sigma Nu member Will Romanowski. The event raised funds to establish a new scholarship and will continue as an annual tradition.  The Auburn Plainsman

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Gov. Kay Ivey signed HB580 into law on April 13 to change tenure rules for public colleges in Alabama, giving boards power to remove tenured faculty who fail post-tenure reviews (the law takes effect Oct. 1 and does not apply to Auburn University or The University of Alabama).  The Auburn Plainsman

SPORTS NEWS

  • The NCAA is testing an eligibility rule that gives athletes five seasons to play starting on their 19th birthday or high school graduation, and Auburn coach Alex Golesh said the change can help teams use young talent more flexibly. The Division I Cabinet will meet in May to review the proposal further.  AL.com
  • Auburn head coach Alex Golesh said after 15 spring practices his revamped offense met his hopes — yet he remains concerned about forging unity among over 60 new players as senior quarterback Byrum Brown is expected to lead team bonding before preseason camp.  AL.com
  • Former Alabama prep standout George Pickens (a Hoover High alumnus) signed a $27.3 million franchise tag contract with the Dallas Cowboys on Wednesday, setting him up for the 2026 season. He will begin the offseason program this week as the team prepares to negotiate a long-term deal by July 15.  AL.com
  • Auburn basketball coach Steven Pearl participated Wednesday morning at Regions Tradition Celebrity Pro-Am in Birmingham (Greystone Golf and Country Club) and paired with former PGA champion David Toms. He compared his swing with Charles Barkley’s from last year, noting his swing came off cleaner amid an early tee challenge.  AL.com
  • Sen. Tommy Tuberville, a former Auburn coach and gubernatorial hopeful, said at the Regions Celebrity Pro-Am in Birmingham on Wednesday that frequent transfers and growing NIL payments are hurting college football + academics, and he called for a rule limiting transfers to once per career.  AL.com
