  • The Alabama House passed a constitutional amendment bill that would expand the list of crimes for which bail can be denied—this measure, named for Aniah Blanchard who was kidnapped and murdered in 2019, now goes to voters for approval.  AL.com
  • On April 24, Opelika-Auburn Indivisible hosted a People’s Town Hall at the Opelika Public Library where local residents raised concerns over public health funding, research cuts, and community issues — Congressman Mike Rogers did not attend and was represented by a cardboard cutout. The meeting’s recording was sent to his office, and another session is planned for May 4 at Town Creek Park.  The Observer
