  • Goodwill will open a new thrift store and donation center on College Street in Auburn as part of a plan to better serve local residents—GoodwillSR President Jack Warden said the location underscores the organization’s commitment to the community.  Opelika-Auburn News

EDUCATION NEWS

  • On April 24, Auburn University’s Student Government Association held its spring Ring Night—guiding students through the tradition of cursing their Auburn rings and dipping them in water from the President’s fountain to remove the curse. About 1,200 rings were sold and participants lined up near Langdon Hall—some picking up rings in person while others had them shipped or collected earlier.  The Auburn Plainsman

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency says residents must have a STAR ID or another approved ID if they plan to fly or enter federal facilities after May 7 — those not flying can apply later as the ID is not required for driving or voting. A STAR ID is issued at ALEA driver license offices and requires four documents to verify identity, Social Security number and address.  AL.com
  • Residents from Alabama's 3rd Congressional District asked questions using a cardboard cutout of Rep. Mike Rogers at a town hall held at the Opelika Public Library by Indivisible Auburn/Opelika.
