  • On April 23, Auburn University's Generation Action held the city's first Take Back the Night Walk to support survivors of sexual violence. Around 40 marchers walked from Toomer's Corner to Campus Green (reciting poems, sharing survivor stories, and receiving resource information) during Sexual Assault Awareness Month.  The Auburn Plainsman

ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • NASA scientists on a research plane used the sensor AVIRIS-3 to find a 120-acre brush fire three miles east of Castleberry on March 19 — and they sent mapping data to emergency crews, which helped Alabama firefighters know the hottest spots — so they could move fast to stop the blaze.  AL.com

CULTURE NEWS

  • Auburn Parks and Recreation Department will launch its Live & Local Music Series on May 1 at Kiesel Park where local musicians will perform throughout the month & longtime musician Tony Brook will close the series on May 29.  The Auburn Villager

  • Grace Valentine addressed Auburn University Panhellenic women on Tuesday, April 22 at the Student Activities Center and shared faith-based guidance plus practical advice for navigating college life — the event hosted by Zeta Tau Alpha provided free copies of her new book to the first 200 attendees.   • Auburn Studio Project is an annual collaboration by Auburn Parks and Recreation Department, the Jule Collins Smith Museum of Fine Art at Auburn University, and East Samford School that gives local students a chance to display their art and connect with the community — the program continues its tradition of engaging youth with creative expression.  The Auburn Villager
