- ➤ The Alabama Department of Education has announced 16 finalists for 2025-2026 Teacher of the Year—three from our area—and will narrow the finalists to four before the winner is named in May. WAKA
- ➤ More than half of families applying for Alabama’s new school voucher program have children in private schools or being homeschooled, according to figures released on Tuesday by Gov. Kay Ivey’s office. The state will notify eligible families beginning May 1 if they get up to $7,000 for tuition or $2,000 for home school costs—lawmakers may request more funds if needed. - ➤ On Tuesday, Alabama lawmakers approved new regulations that require pharmacy benefit managers to reimburse small pharmacies at least the Medicaid rate for prescription drugs to help prevent closures.
