  • The jury in the trial of Taharra Brunson began deliberating Friday afternoon—after hearing closing arguments—and resumed Monday morning as he faces capital murder and kidnapping charges linked to Thomas Green’s 2020 death near Waverly.  Opelika-Auburn News

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Auburn University's Office of Information Technology is planning to replace its AU_Wi-Fi network with eduroam this fall to give students and faculty better internet access. The project will install new access points that support 150 devices instead of 50—addressing capacity issues in classrooms during peak times.  The Auburn Plainsman

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The Alabama House of Representatives advanced legislation to ban cellphones in K-12 public schools with a 79-15 vote last Thursday, and the measure now moves to the Senate for review. Gov. Kay Ivey supported the proposal during her State of the State address, and local school boards will choose how to store devices if the ban passes.  Opelika-Auburn News
