  • Last week, the community celebrated a groundbreaking for the Food Bank of East Alabama’s new Community Market building located at 1600 First Ave in Opelika. The new building—designed as a client-choice pantry—will help families in Lee County pick the food they need.  The Observer

  • The Tallapoosa County Sheriff's Office is seeking Ja’Zarian Keante Gray—who allegedly chased a victim in a black 1998 Dodge Ram on Ashurst Bar Road last Friday and shot into the victim’s vehicle—for charges of attempted murder and shooting into an occupied vehicle.  WAKA

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The state of Alabama gave Auburn a $2.85 million grant to expand Auburn Technology Park West under the SEEDS Act—city matching funds bring the total to $5.7 million. Construction will start this summer and is expected to bring 600 jobs and $400 million in new private investment.  The Observer
