- ➤ A ceremony at Dover Air Force Base last week returned the remains of Maj. Alex Klinner and five fellow service members after a KC-135 aircraft crashed over western Iraq; his widow Libby Klinner and family attended as officials confirmed his role with the 99th Air Refueling Squadron + he was a proud Trussville airman. CRIME NEWS
- ➤ Two men, McCullough and Dyas, were cited for wildlife abuse at Pines Crossing Golf Course on March 1 after videos showed them harming Canadian Geese + they were banned from the course and their citations are set for Lee County District Court on April 7. The Auburn Plainsman
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Auburn City Schools named Shannon Pignato as the new Assistant Superintendent of Curriculum and Instruction (role to oversee curriculum updates) effective immediately. Opelika-Auburn News
- ➤ Auburn University was named as a potential partner (Feb. 27 announcement by the Department of War) for a Senior Service College fellowship program that will change military education for the 2026-27 school year. Local lawmakers have expressed support while Auburn has not yet commented. The Auburn Plainsman

- ➤ The Alabama Department of Revenue reported that in fiscal year 2025 nearly 43% of 5.4 million license plates purchased were specialty plates, with God Bless America tags leading at 1.1 million and Auburn University tags coming in at 85,709 (retired military and disabled veteran plates generated over 175,000 tags).
