CULTURE NEWS

  • The CityFest Juried Art Show and Preview Reception will take place April 23 at the Nunn-Winston House at Kiesel Park (21st annual event). Organizers expect local artists to showcase creative work.  The Auburn Villager

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Auburn University has built a strong community since Feb. 1, 1856 — it now offers more than 150 majors and over 550 clubs that help students connect and grow. Students say the university makes finding friends and pursuing interests easier in Auburn.  The Auburn Plainsman
  • Auburn University was named as a potential partner for the Pentagon's education programs, as officials (who oversee the initiative) announced a broader series of academic collaborations in the region.  Opelika-Auburn News

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • At its Feb. 17 meeting, Auburn City Council talked about House Bill 445, which set new rules on THC and hemp sales that hurt local shops and customers—and voted to shorten the licensing wait time. The council will meet on March 17 to plan next steps.  Eagle Eye TV

SPORTS NEWS

  • Auburn’s women’s basketball team lost 73 to 57 against Ole Miss in the SEC Tournament last Thursday night, ending coach Larry Vickers’ first season. The team finished 15 to 17 overall and 3 to 13 in SEC play and will seek new transfers to boost the squad next season.  The Auburn Plainsman
  • Denver Broncos quarterback Bo Nix and his wife welcomed daughter Riley Belle in February (born on his 26th birthday). The former Auburn star led his team to a 14-3 record and an AFC championship run before he was sidelined by injury.  AL.com
