  • The Civil Air Patrol in East Alabama offers leadership, aerospace training and service opportunities for youth (ages 12 to 18) and adults, including flight academies, orientation flights and volunteer pilot roles.   • LCLC served nearly 1,000 adults in 2025, showing rising need and trust in its literacy programs. The coalition will host its annual Reading Between the Wines fundraiser on Thursday, March 19 at 6 p.m. at Twenty-One Acres on Wire Road to boost expansion in 2026.  The Observer
